family history

Whether you are a beginner, have part of your family history or just need that one vital record, we can conduct the genealogy research you need at affordable rates.

Beginner Family Research

If you are just beginning to build your family tree and aren’t sure where to start, we can focus on the STORY of your parents, grandparents and/or great-grandparents. Through census records, city directories, vital records, newspaper articles, obituaries, cemetery inscriptions, adoption documents, and many other valuable resources you can learn the important details of those closest to you. We also can provide you with a report on “where to look next” for when you want to continue the journey.

Furthering Your Current Genealogy Research

If you’ve already started your family tree and are looking to expand those branches – we can help. People often focus on direct ancestors and descendants in their research, but there are even more leaves on that family tree. Discovering uncles, aunts and/or cousins you never knew you had can provide a wealth of information and reveal some amazing stories. We can delve into the children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc. of your direct ancestors’ siblings.

Many times these newly found 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins can hold important clues about your family – pictures, stories, documents, keepsakes – that can add new dimensions to your HISTORY. We both have discovered new 2nd, 3rd and 4th cousins that we now keep in touch with through e-mail, in person and yes through Facebook too. Many of these cousins shared great stories, identified old photographs and provided additional information from their own genealogy research. We now have branches that extend out to Canada, Ireland, Europe and even New Zealand.

Focusing On One Branch, Family or Surname

We can research a specific branch, family or even a surname in which you are interested. If you’ve always known about your dad’s side of the family but mom’s side is a total blank, it may be time to dig a little deeper. Narrowing the scope of your search could uncover your immigrant family’s origins, determine whatever happened to Uncle Bill and his daughters or finally link those New York City O’Briens to your O’Briens from Bayonne and Jersey City, New Jersey.

Biographical Research

Is there a member of your family that you have always wondered about? We will use all available resources to uncover as much of their STORY as possible. Amazing discoveries can be made when you focus on one person’s journey through life – struggles you never knew about, accomplishments they never talked about, and legends that just might be true.

Family Records Search & Lookups

Are you searching for a vital record – birth, marriage or death certificate? Is there an immigration or naturalization record that you just can’t find? Would you love to have a copy of a grandparent’s or great-grandparent’s obituary, will, marriage announcement or high school yearbook entry? Did your ancestor serve in the military? It’s not always easy to travel to local libraries, archives and cemeteries. We can help. We routinely search and retrieve records from the New Jersey State Archives, as well as many other archives and libraries throughout the New Jersey and New York area.

DNA Testing

DNA testing is another tool that can enhance your STORY. We can assist you with determining the DNA test for your needs, ordering autosomal, Y-DNA and mt-DNA test kits, interpreting the results and contacting new relatives.

You can discover the origins of your ancestors before they came to America. Did your ancestors originate in Eastern Europe, the Iberian Peninsula, British Isles, Africa or Central America? This question can be answered with DNA testing.

You can also discover new cousins, and in some cases siblings. Through DNA testing we have discovered new branches and cousins located in our own backyard and in the western United States, Canada and New Zealand.
